The Linux Beer Hike (a.k.a. "LBW") is a yearly recurring event in which Linux users hike the hills and valleys of an area selected for its natural beauty, its beer, and (if possible!) its solar eclipse ;-).

There was a meeting in Prague on the weekend of 8th-9th May during which many issues were resolved. A report of the meeting and photographs can be viewed from the above link.

LBW '99

Tux with beer, sunglasses and computer

The 1999 Linux BierWanderung took place in North Eastern Bavaria in the week from august 9'th to 15'th, when Linux aficionados from as far away as New Zealand, and also from USA, UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and naturally Germany came together to learn Linux on their laptop computers and visit the local brewpubs. There was workshops on Linux and related subjects to the hikers during the day and enjoyment of the local pub scene in the evening.  The Solar eclipse of '99 took place during the event, and most of the participants went south to view the event. Some participants have published pictures and words on the web: see Albert Hybl's LBW page, David Cantrell's LBW page, and Henrik Levkowetz' LBW page.

LBW 2000

After the successful completion of LBW '99, the proposals for a LBW 2000 site has started to come in.  If you want to follow the discussion, join the LBW mailing list (instructions below), or browse its archive.
